Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

GOING HOME

They say there's a place where dreams have all gone.

They never said where but I think I know.

It's miles through the night just over the dawn.

On the road that will take me home.

I know in my bones, I've been here before.

The ground feels the same though the land's been torn.

I've a long way to go, the stars tell me so.

On this road that will take me home.

Love waits for me 'round the bend, leads me endlessly on.

Surely sorrows shall find their end and all our troubles will be gone.

And I'll know what I've lost and all that I've won.

When the road finally takes me home.

And when I pass by, don't lead me astray.

Don't try to stop me, don't stand in my way.

I'm bound for the hills where cool waters flow,

On this road that will take me home.

THOMAS AND NATHANIEL

Thomas and Nathaniel delight us all with their actions and their conversations.

Their discussions amuse us daily, and their deep theology of life reminds us of the talks between........

BACK TO SCHOOL

Everyone was ready to get back on track with school lessons this week! Benjamin said he was "in the mood for school." The day always flows so much better with a schedule and everyone knowing what to expect throughout the day. Anna Rose sat in her bouncer sweetly during our lessons.

Grace seems puzzled over schoolwork and decides.....

to "borrow" some information from Benjamin!!!

Tall ships, English captains, and

THE BABY

WHERE DID YOU COME FROM, BABY DEAR?

Out of the everywhere into the here.

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR EYES SO BLUE?

Out of the sky as I came through.

WHAT MAKES THE LIGHT IN THEM SPARKLE AND SPIN?

Some of the starry spikes left in.

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT LITTLE TEAR?

I found it waiting when I got here.

WHAT MAKES YOUR FOREHEAD SO SMOOTH AND HIGH?

A soft hand stroked it as I went by.

WHAT MAKES YOUR CHEEK LIKE A WARM WHITE ROSE?

Something better than anyone knows.

WHENCE THAT THREE-CORNERED SMILE OF BLISS?

Three angels gave me at once a kiss.

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT PEARLY EAR?

God spoke, and it came out to hear.

WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE ARMS AND HANDS?

Love made itself into hooks and bands.

FEET, WHENCE DID YOU COME, YOU DARLING THINGS?

From the same box as the cherub's wings.

HOW DID THEY ALL JUST COME TO BE YOU?

God thought about me, and so I grew.

BUT HOW DID YOU COME TO US, YOU DEAR?

God thought of you, and so I am here.

After four consecutive days on the phototherapy bed, finally peaceful slumber in the bassinet.

Friday, December 18, 2009

Today was the last stick in little Anna Rose's heels!!!! She has been pricked soooo many times for blood sugar and bilirubin levels that her feet look like little pin cushions. Thankfully the doctor's office called and said her levels are looking good and we can take her off the phototherapy bed. We have been holding her and loving her ALL DAY!!!!!

What a delightful early Christmas gift!!!!

NATHANIEL'S OBSERVATION OF ANNA ROSE

"She smells like GRITS."

We thought that statement was so cute because of the acronym "Girls Raised In The South."

The lab results today showed Anna Rose's bilirubin levels on the decline. We're hoping by Friday the levels should be where the doctor wants them. Thank you for the prayers.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

And in the midst of bringing home a new baby, Grace pulls her first tooth!!!!

Before Mommy, Daddy, and baby leave for the lab, Julieann enjoys holding Anna Rose.

How to play with your three year old while nursing a newborn!!!

Anna Rose's bilirubin levels are still elevated. Her blood sugar levels are looking much better. We have to venture out to Augusta for more lab work tomorrow on her bilirubin. Kenny and I are very tired from sleepless nights and running to Augusta every day. Please pray we will get some much needed rest.

OUR LITTLE GLOW WORM

Anna Rose is home now. However, her bilirubin levels are elevated and she has to lay on a phototherapy bed. We have to visit the lab in the morning to check her levels again. Please continue to be in prayer for her blood sugar levels as well.

Julieann has been sitting by her sister's side since she's been home.

All the Green children want to hold and snuggle their new little sister. They can't wait until she no longer needs to be on her bed so much.

We can only take her off the phototherapy bed to nurse and change diapers. I'm snuggling my sweet Anna Rose before Daddy has to place her back on the bed.

Saturday, December 12, 2009

Mom and baby are recovering fine - thanks for all the prayers - although we're still watching Anna Rose's blood sugar. Her Brothers and sisters are anxious for us to bring their new sister home.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNA ROSE!

At 8:07 am, the Green family was blessed by God with a beautiful baby girl. Anna Rose is 11 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches long, with a full head of Blonde (Momma thinks strawberry blonde) hair. Because of her birthweight, we are monitoring her blood sugar. Please pray for Anna Rose that her blood sugar would stabilize - and for Momma as she recovers. - Kenny

PACKED AND READY FOR A NEW BABY

The C-section is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:30. Please pray that all will go well with this being my 9th C-section and that our baby will have a healthy delivery. Also keep in prayer the other 8 Green children who will be anxiously awaiting the new baby's arrival. We're not sure when we will get to post on the blog at the hospital, so keep checking back for pictures!!!!!!

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Kenny and I ran some last minute errands today while the children finished up some odd jobs. Joseph and Benjamin did a wonderful job cleaning the blinds!!!!

RESTING AND WAITING ON BABY

Grace has been letting Julieann practice for the new baby with her favorite baby doll. We're trying to teach Juileann that she can not poke the new baby's eyes!!!!!!

Monday, December 7, 2009

The chain is growing smaller and....

our freezer is growing fuller!!!!! Thank you to all those at church who prepared freezer meals for our family!

Take One for Christmas pictures. We took about 30 pictures today, but no one really cooperated..... except for the chicken!!!! Daniel had had enough of silliness by picture 25 and Thomas was afraid the chicken would jump on his head.

When Julieann decided to torture the comb on the chicken's head, we decided to try again another day........

GETTING READY FOR BABY

Empty dirty clothes hampers,

Organized closet bins,

and spotless ovens are just a few of the projects the Green family completed today.

Most of the boys worked on cleaning the outside shed, shampooing and cleaning out the van, vacuuming ceiling fans and curtains, and general picking up in the yard and house. The girls primarily worked in the bathrooms, laundry room, and kitchen. Only 6 more days to the birth of baby Green!!!!!!

Friday, December 4, 2009

While some of the Green crew were baking Christmas cookies and....

decorating with lights,.

Our gas man happened to get stuck in the ditch by our driveway.

Daniel to the rescue!!!!

The gas man was finally able to fill our tank for the holidays.

Tonight we went to pick out a Christmas tree before the new baby arrives.

Nathaniel was a LITTLE bit chilly!!!!!!!!!

Thursday, December 3, 2009

On top of teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic, I must also teach........

not to put arrows in the pencil sharpener.....

not to put underwear and blue jeans on your head....

and not to use scarves as a swing on baby gates. Never a dull moment at the Green house!!!!

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

With all the rain today, Carolyn located a box of my old toys for Julieann to play with this afternoon. She sat at the table playing so sweetly. I remember playing with these same toys when flying on an airplane from Okinawa, Japan to the States!!!!

And Nathaniel can pretty much fall asleep anywhere and in any position!

ROSES IN DECEMBER

Our rose bushes have been very fruitful this year. I don't ever remember having roses in December, but they are a welcome sight on an overcast December day. Their presence reminds me of our little "rose" blossom that will be blooming in only 10 more days!!!!!!!!

Kenny asked me last night if I was tired of being pregnant. Of course I am very uncomfortable and anxious for the birth of our new little one, but I don't want to say "I'm tired of being pregnant." Being pregnant and bringing children into this world is a gift, and no matter how difficult it can be, I want to always keep that in perspective. According to Nancy Campbell, "Godly children bring much joy to a marriage. The older you get and the more you mature, the more you realize that every other "thing" we strive after in this life is fleeting and will pass away. It is only our children that are lasting gifts that we will keep forever. We can take them into eternity with us. Everything else will be left behind."

Things around the Green house are kind of crazy at this point. We are trying to all work together to get the house in order, finish any pending projects, stay on top of school lessons with my energy levels decreasing rapidly, and trying to maintain peaceful relationships while we spend lots of time at home avoiding any cold or flu viruses right before my surgery. Bringing a new baby into the world is indeed a blessing, but it does take everyone working together for a smoother transition. Please remember our family in prayer during this transition period and for everyone's health as well.
