Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Homeschooling different ages from high school to preschool can be challenging at times. Usually we have Bible, History, and Science class all together as in a one-room school house. Then some of the older children take turns playing with the younger ones while I help with individualized teaching in phonics, math, and reading. Well, today it was Grace's turn with the little ones. Grace has a wonderful imagination and can step back in time to many periods of history and have "theatre class" with the little ones excitedly joining along.

As I was teaching Joseph math today, I first came across.....

this Wild West outlaw.

Then I was visited by the Queen of England with her sparkling jewels in hand.

Next came the Civil War soldier complete with gun, knife, and bedroll.

And of course I had to visit with this sweet Southern Belle.

And finally came this little French peasant child and her basket of flowers.

It took a while, but Joseph and I completed his lessons, and the rainy day just seemed so much brighter.

After the rain left, Grace picked this beautiful bouquet of wildfowers for me. A very pleasant day.....

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 - Happy 11th Birthday Joseph !

Today we celebrated 11 years with Joseph (who is indeed our chief entertainer in the family)!

This is the "birthday" sign Joseph awoke to this morning because...

he is now the proud owner of a cockatiel! He has always LOVED birds, rescuing birds in the yard, taming wild geese, etc.

And Joseph told Carolyn he didn't want a "fancy" cake, so I think the choice of a homemade carrot cake topped with delicious cream cheese icing was the perfect choice for a spring birthday!

Carolyn helped Grace with her violin practice today. Thank you Hanger family!

This afternoon I was supposed to be rocking this little girl to sleep (yes, she was refusing to let her eyelids close) and I couldn't help but admire my sweet baby's eyes.

TOO TIRED TO MAKE IT TO BED

Friday, March 25, 2011

The boys worked on more shed demolition this evening.

And this is the look we get when Miss Rosie hears "No, No, don't touch."

LITTLE MOMMIES

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

From Benjamin's expressions, I believe Duchess had been snacking on squirrels again.

And today I wish I could have been as relaxed as these guys.

There was a little accident on the farm today..... Some of the younger Green children wanted to help the older Green children by transporting feed from Daniel's truck to the barn.

Nathaniel and crew soon discovered that the towing capacity of a mini coupe was not quite enough for a bag of feed. They abandoned the project and decided Daniel could handle the matter later.....

And today I caught a glimpse of Grace in the future as a mother with her own children. So sweet.....

Announcing our new goat milk facial creme that will be available at HAIR IT IS Salon this week!

The old shed (original smokehouse to the farm) is finally coming down. We are salvaging the good boards to use on our barn.

And while Daddy and the boys were demolishing, the girls spent time with dandelions and.....

cherry tree blossoms - enjoying them outside...

and inside.

While all the "big" kids were busy, Nathaniel was a sweetie to help feed Anna Rose. He was very neat and tidy!

Front porch lunch break!

And poor Thomas received a foot injury today while working on the shed. He was in Daddy's arms when I snapped this picture of my smudgy-faced little boy looking soooo pitiful.

Yesterday everyone enjoyed running barefoot through the newly plowed garden plot.

Thursday, March 17, 2011 - HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

From the BREASTPLATE OF SAINT PATRICK.....

"I rise today with the power of God to guide me,

the might of God to uphold me,

the wisdom of God to teach me,

the eye of God to watch over me,

the ear of God to hear me,

the word of God to give me speech,

the hand of God to protect me,

the path of God to lie before me,

the shield of God to shelter me,

the host of God to defend me....."

MORE LITTLE LAMBS

The shepherd caring for his little lamb.

Joseph came running into the house again this evening announcing the birth of twins!

All the Green children LOVE the little black lamb.

The goats were so excited to see the new little babies that they climbed the fence to investigate.

Nathaniel tried...

and tried to capture the goat.

But then it became a game that was very comical to watch.

MY VIEW FROM INSIDE THE SCHOOL ROOM

On rainy days I am thankful for our Southern front porch. The children can still play "outside" without getting wet. Grace was kind enough to take Anna Rose on "baby doll stroller" rides, and the boys were able to participate in shooting matches.

PLAYING WITH THE BABY LAMBS

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Today we enjoyed fellowship with the Cox and Hanger families.

It was such a beautiful day to enjoy each other's company in conversation....

and in games of "capture the flag."

This evening Mr. Farmer was kind enough to help feed Anna Rose her chicken and stars dinner. He was a Pro!

And while we were trying to get little ones in the bathtub, Joseph came running with exciting news that one of his sheep gave birth to two little lambs.

So far both of the lambs seem healthy.

Friday, March 11, 2011

I looked out of my kitchen window today and saw one of my children riding backwards and bareback....

and further to the right of my window, I caught the eye of another child riding barefoot.

And then I discovered the "errand boys" fetching water for the horses. I am thankful for these pleasant diversions in my day.....

Thursday, March 10, 2011 - Happy 8th Birthday Grace !!!!!!

We are thankful for the last 8 "sunshiney" years with our vibrant Grace.

Today Grace spent most of the day in the kitchen with Carolyn learning how to assemble her birthday cake.

Grace had enough cake and materials to make her own design.

The finished product! Carolyn spent days making each butterfly and flower by hand to decorate today's cake.

And Carolyn and Grace enjoyed playing with blush and lipstick to make Anna Rose a little "rosier".

"The part of the mother in early years is to 'sow opportunities, and then to keep in the background, ready with a guiding or restraining hand only when these are badly wanted...wise letting alone is the chief thing...

We've been busy filling internet orders.....

and restocking our retailers! (Here's Carolyn restocking the display at LMN Pharmacy in Thomson) More spring soaps are curing on the racks and coming soon.....

A FOUR YEAR OLD'S PROBLEM

Nathaniel's words: "Uh.....Mom.....I have a problem."

And then he showed me this......

But I was thankful he tackled his "problem" with a cheerful countenance! I must remember to tackle my "problems" with the same attitude. The joy of learning from my children is refreshing at times.....

Saturday, March 5, 2011

Since it was a rainy Saturday, my living room and foyer were transformed into a fort and Indian camping ground.

The settlers in the fort had to defend themselves from the outlaws.....

Of course, Nathaniel played the part of one of the outlaws.

And it wasn't long before he was defeated!

Friday, March 4, 2011

Today the children brought the birdfeeder inside the house because Benjamin noticed a bird was trapped. I guess they wanted to protect the bird from the dogs and cat.

Well, they helped the bird escape alright....and fly all around OUR HOUSE. The poor little sparrow got caught in the curtains.

And Benjamin was able to rescue him and release him once again to the great outdoors.

The Lord graciously allowed Kenny and me to see our baby on the ultrasound today with a healthy heartbeat! Thank you to all our prayer warriors for praying so faithfully. We would appreciate continued prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy.

Anna Rose was so happy to hear the good news!

And Carolyn finished her cake decorating class tonight. This was her grand finale! I wonder why she chose blue :)
