Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

This weekend was the girls' turn to escort Daddy to his work conference in Savannah.

Anna Rose rested in the shade of downtown Savannah while waiting on Daddy.

This is what I mean about the "diggingest" dog. Pregnant mamas and little children have to be careful walking through our yard now. It's sorta like a mine field!

The Green children spent today collecting.....

LOTS and LOTS of cicadas! Benjamin learned the hard way that cicadas DO sting (we later researched that only the females sting).

And Daisy thought they made a tasty afternoon snack.

Anna Rose fell asleep on Carolyn during a golf cart ride today. She looked so sweet all tuckered out...

SHEEP SHEARING AND GARDEN WATERING

Today was the day for shearing Joseph's sheep!

We enjoyed learning about shearing from Mr. Randy Pinson. I'm sure the ewes will feel a LOT better in the warm weather without so much wool.

Grace was impressed with the amount of wool from each sheep.

Both sheep's wool pretty much covered the back of Daniel's truck.

And we're still waiting on our water pump for the garden, so it's the old fashioned bucket brigade once again.

Benjamin and Grace were the water fetchers.

The return trip was very tiring.

But they put both their heads together and came up with an easier solution.

Even the youngest Green child contributed to the watering festivities.

It took all evening to finish watering the garden. The Green children will sleep well tonight.....

My sweet girls before Easter church service Sunday morning.

And we were wondering what these little girls were up to.....

perhaps river dancing.....?

They ended the show with sweet sisterly affection.

Carolyn's grand finale for her two tiered cake class.

A perfect cake for after Easter church services!

Friday, April 22, 2011 - GOOD FRIDAY

The traditional Easter Egg Hunt with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

And when the weather is a little rainy, the maidens and knights appear!

With Daniel's busy schedule, Joseph is next in line for yard work!

Sometimes when things get a little rowdy on the inside, a peaceful stroll helps everyone regroup (including Mama).

And when Julieann and Anna Rose were busy looking over the side of the porch, Duchess decided to sample a little apple juice.

What was for dinner tonight? Chicago dogs : beef hot dogs with a dill pickle wedge, hot mustard, tomato slices, pepper rings, relish, and a dash of celery salt. DELICIOUS!

We've restocked our lavender, lavender chamomile, and fruit and magnolia soaps just in time for Mother's Day! Check out our online soap page!

I must confess.....we skipped school today. It was too beautiful of a day to be inside with our noses in books. Instead we spent time...

enjoying each other's company,

pondering the meaning of life (I promise no one was posing for this picture),

working in the garden,

pondering a little more,

and climbing trees. A refreshing day to clear all of our minds.....

We planted some of the garden this past weekend and today we continued with rows of peas.

Until we find a water pump for the garden, the old fashioned bucket brigade method works well.

And while all of the Greens were busy working, Miss Rosie just watched and enjoyed playing with the flowers.

My sweet Julieann decided today to venture out on an early Easter egg hunt.

She inspected the egg she found "hiding" in the chicken coop...

and told me the crack was made by a baby chick inside wanting to come out. Of course we all know Julieann is notorious for making the cracks with her own little fingers and then using her vivid imagination to tell us how the cracks appeared.

And the Green boys spent the afternoon putting up a little barbed wire fence around our garden. Dixie, Daisy, and Duchess are the DIGGINGEST dogs, and we don't want all of our hard work to be destroyed.

When you're out of bandaids, some paper towels and electrical tape work just fine.....

Nathaniel was in my room this morning before school lessons shooting his pistol over and over and over again. I asked him to please stop because Mama was getting a headache. He responded," But I'm not getting a headache.....only grownups get headaches."

Benjamin has been working hard making handles for old hammers we found while tearing down the "smokehouse" to the original farm.

He carves the handles just perfectly to make a snug fit.

Benjamin searches for just the right - sized wooden branch for a handle. Such a fine craftsman!

SISTERLY FUN WITH WEDGITS

Saturday, April 9, 2011

While the big boys were working on the barn, the little boys were catching frogs.

Grace was taking care of the little girls....

or were the little girls taking care of Grace?

The warm weather made everyone crave a cool, refreshing bowl of pasta salad!

Nathaniel was bird watching this morning after breakfast when he asked me...

"Mom, where's the Bird Bible?"

I guess he calls the Nature Guide the "Bird Bible" because of the leather cover like everyone's Bible at home.

Well, he consulted the "Bird Bible" and discovered his bird was a chipping sparrow. I love to see the initiative for research in my children!

Perfect...just perfect.

But first, I must get rid of the boys' soldiers.

Mission accomplished!

Today Joseph and Benjamin built a perch for "Chico".

And Benjamin was quite the gentleman to take the little girls on a walk before dinner.

A blimp flying over the pasture today was a treat for the Green children and the Green dogs!

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

Today everyone enjoyed watching the power people repair the downed powerlines. Our power was finally restored about 9 pm.

Julieann fell and hurt her lip yesterday. Kenny was running errands due to the power outage today, and when Julieann saw his truck pulling into the driveway, she turned to me and said seriously, "Daddy's home with my new lip....." I love hearing the words spoken by my babies!

Look who's learning 5th grade math!!!

And Kenny and the Green boys made this working cannon from bits and pieces they found while cleaning out the barn!

Tennis balls make the perfect artillery.

After school lessons, the cannon was towed...

back to camp, ready to engage in Revolutionary War Battles.

This was Joseph this morning with his cockatiel.

And this was Joseph this evening with his cockatiel. He has gained the bird's trust and the two are best buddies.
