Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Nathaniel and Julieann were playing "ice cream store" today when he asked her if she wanted ice cream in a bowl or in a cone.

Julieann clearly ordered : strawberry ice cream in a "pine" cone. She was serious and thought nothing of her order, but if you look at Nathaniel's face, he was a little perplexed.

Today Nathaniel and his siblings decided to pool their money together to make a purchase. Well, Nathaniel thought they needed a little more money, so he pulled his dollar out of his wallet, took it over to our copy machine, and yes, made a copy. He began cutting it out (when I grabbed the camera),

and was so proud of himself for his ingenious idea! I never dreamed I would be teaching an economics lesson to my 5 year old son about the government printing money.....

An evening of square dancing

until she drops ...

and cowboy boots

instead of flops.

"Should I take my bow and arrow and find some wild animals in the bushes...or...

finish my doughnut first?" A growing little boy chooses food over the hunt.

And these two were relaxiing and enjoying the evening when they couldn't resist any longer...

A friendly game of tug of war in the front yard led...

to a lot of fun for everyone.

After a long day gathering lost tools, and finally tiling the new laundry room,

a delicious Fall meal hits the spot: chicken slow cooked in apple juice with cinnamon, carrots, and apricots all over a bed of rice.

And to end the day, a scrumptious caramel apple nut cake! Carolyn and I are excited to be experimenting with new Fall recipes!

Summer ends...

and Autumn begins. Looking forward to the new season.....

Making a chain to count the days until baby...

Julieann is excitedly awaiting our AUTUMN arrival.

The FORT...

The INVADERS...

And the BATTLE.

My boys LOVE working with wood and making things out of branches and Daddy's leftover scraps. From all of the limbs falling recently, Nathaniel decided to make a wooden pistol.

 .

He has spent a lot of time sanding and smoothing his creation with intense concentration.

Today Nathaniel had the job of "gatekeeper" while the rest of the gang loaded limbs onto the golf cart trailer and hauled them away to a pile in the woods.

It was quite interesting to watch Nathaniel wait...

and wait...

and wait...

until he was needed to perform his job.

And Miss Anna Rose decided to peek into the barn,

and find some fascinating tools that belong to her Daddy.

This is our mismatched sock pile. Yes, we found a few pair that matched, but we can not explain where all the other socks disappeared. If anyone has suggestions for how NOT to lose socks in a large family, feel free to send us an email. Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, we are battling the GREAT SOCK HUNT once again :)

"As the flower in the garden stretches toward the light of the sun, so there is in the child a mysterious inclination toward the eternal light. Have you ever noticed this mysterious thing that when you tell the smallest child about God, she never asks with strangeness and wonder, "What or who is God - I have never seen him," but listens with shining face to the words as though they soft loving sounds from the land of home ..."

THE LOOK.....Anna Rose pretty much dared Thomas to play with her toys.

Then she took great pains to tell him HOW to play.

Finally, she thought she would demonstrate the correct placement of dolls. And all the while, Thomas was a very patient, respectful brother.....

A RED WAGON + A LITTLE HILL = FUN FOR THE EVENING

Everyone took rides this evening while Daddy was working on the golf cart. Carolyn happened to video Nathaniel's turn in the wagon.

Once again, the difference in my boys taking care of Anna Rose,

and my girls taking care of her. Such a little lady!

Thursday, September 8, 2011 - Happy 15th Birthday Carolyn!

Carolyn spent today learning how to bowl. She did an amazing job!

Everyone enjoyed learning the sport, and Grace even found a bowling ball to match her outfit!

Julieann received help with this ramp to roll her ball down.

Nathaniel is serious about his bowling. He didn't want to stand at the line and just roll his ball. He had to take the proper bowling strides and then release the ball.

Yes, that's a strike!

And one proud felllow...

Carolyn actually bowled MANY strikes today. We were all impressed and it made her birthday even more special.

Thank you Carolyn for being our helpful, sweet-spirited, gracious daughter in all of life's circumstances. We pray the Lord will continue to bless you...

"Brothers and sisters should live together as intimate friends;

should carefully win

and sedulously keep each other's love,

dwelling together in unity and tender affection.

There is no friendship in the world so pure, so rich and helpful, as that of family--

if only it be watched and tended as it should be...."

What a beautiful day to be outside!

Julieann enjoyed herding the chickens,

while the boys enjoyed....

doing things that boys do.

Grace spent some reflective moments watching the sheep and the goats,

and Julieann plopped down on the ground with a good book. We are looking forward to a glorious AUTUMN...

"Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers."

---Sidlow Baxter

"Jesus, I wish you would let me wash your feet, since it was by walking around in me that you soiled them. I wish you would give me the task of wiping the stains from your feet, since it was my behavior that put them there. But where can I get the running water I need to wash your feet? If I have no water, at least I have tears. Let me wash your feet with my tears, and wash myself at the same time."

When the boys are running errands with Daddy, and the house is still and quiet, then it is time for some hymns to comfort the soul.

Friday, September 2, 2011

When all is quiet in the house.....

little boys can be found outside swinging in trees while...

little girls can be found inside playing with Mother's makeup.

Who's the man for the insulation job on the new laundry room addition? JOSEPH !!!!!

And with Daddy and Thomas holding the ladder secure, Joseph's work begins.

But where is Joseph going?

All that is visible are his FEET...

After much sweating and itching, Joseph's work was complete. We are all grateful for his contribution to the project!
