Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Kenny, Autumn Faith, and I have been out of town for one of Kenny's work conferences. We are very thankful to be reunited with our family.

I believe everyone was excited to hold Autumn Faith again.

"Think long and hard about the way you invest your children's time.

Time is treasure.

And where your investment is, there you will find the heart of a child.

Invest the majority of his time in entertainment, and his heart will be turned to love of pleasure.

Invest his time in peers rather than family, and his heart will be with the peers more than his family.

There is a time and place for all good things in balance, but wise parents will steward the treasure of time, and in so doing, shepherd their children's hearts."

Autumn Faith is such a snuggly baby.

This weekend Joseph spent time carving wooden whistles.

Miss Anna Rose decided she wanted to make one too. I heard a sawing noise around the corner and caught her in action.

And the girls were excited to wear their Fall sweaters this chilly morning.

Julieann always makes me smile :)

STORY STARTERS

This was the picture Grace chose for her story today. It is with great delight that I share the stories that my children write. They mean a great deal to me, and I want to remember them always...

The Surprise Rabbits

"Florence! Florence! Mother wants us up at the house for a surprise," panted young six year old Harold running up and throwing himself down on the grass where his little sister was playing dollhouse beneath the pine tree.

Springing up, almost knocking her dishes down she cried, "Oh, then let's go see what she has for us." Hand in hand they started toward the house asking Mamie, the housekeeper, where Mother was.

"Well, children, I suppose she's in her room," said Mamie, answering their question.

After thanking Mamie, they rushed into their Mother's room asking what their surprise was. "Well, come into the workshop and see what it is," Mother said. What a look of delight on their faces when they saw two brown and white rabbits for themselves.

"Oh, what pretty little things," exclaimed Florence. " What shall we name them?"

"I know what I shall name mine," said Harold to his three year old sister. "I'll name it Peter for the Peter Rabbit story.

"And I'll name mine Flopsey from the same story," said Florence.

After six months of enjoying the rabbits, the family had to move to Ohio, for their father was sick, and the doctor said he had to move or he would surely die. So the children sold the rabbits and their house and moved. Nine months later as the children were in their new town, Harold spotted something at the General Store that made him want to shout with joy. For there in a crate for sale were their rabbits Peter and Flopsey. So they bought them and never sold them again.

Thank you Caitlin for caring for the little Greens this afternoon. I know they had a very enjoyable time.

This morning Julieann was prepared for milking in the rain.

And the big boys were sweet to build this bridge over the water (school room carpet) for the cars to be transported by ferry. This kept the little ones playing all morning during the rain.

Carolyn caught the ferry action on video.

Guess who's playing behind the curtain?

Autumn Faith loves to play peekaboo behind the curtain during school time.

"Hair salon" was the theme for today. Autumn Faith enjoyed Grace combing and styling her hair.

Anna Rose, however, decided to style her hair ALL BY HERSELF. Beautiful!

And Joseph has been a very thoughtful big brother cutting his siblngs guns, knives, and initials out of wood. Notice Julieann is holding her letter "J".

Carolyn spent the morning with Grammy and Grandpa shopping and enjoying a delicious lunch. Grandpa snapped a picture of Carolyn texting her siblings back home with a picture of her "fancy" lunch.

And in this age of technology, the Green children can still be a part of each other's lives.

As Carolyn and I sorted through spring/summer clothes and brought down fall/winter clothes from the attic today, our hard work was interrupted by some interesting events. First, Anna Rose awoke from her nap in a cross mood. She was fussing and crying loudly when Nathaniel interjected, "Mom, I think she has rabies. "Once she settled down, Anna Rose became quite the helper vacuuming the school room. It wasn't long before we heard Julieann screaming and crying. Carolyn and I soon discovered that Anna Rose had vacuumed Julieann's hair. I spent the next half hour trying to untangle all of the knots. And below is my wall in the play area where I have displayed Carolyn's rose needlework and Grace's bird needlework. Julieann and Anna Rose decided to add to the "art wall". They peeled the green paint so that the sheetrock nail is exposed and the figure remaining resembles a "cat". I am very thankful to never worry about a boring day...

From walking to trampoline in just two days!

Today we remember all those who perished in the Twin Towers incident. We also remember the families who lost loved ones, and as the children and I discussed the brevity of life this morning during our school time, we are making the committment to live life more purposefully and let others know how much we love them...

During recess, the children decided to have a "barrel" of fun.

And Autumn Faith loves milking time just as much as the other Green children.

These two inspected the chicken coop for eggs through the little window this afternnon.

Look who's walking,

and learning 7th grade math.

And today Duke was once again right by Autumn Faith's side...

Saturday, September 8, 2012 - Happy 16th Birthday Carolyn!!!

Today we celebrated Carolyn's 16th birthday. Once again, we look back on the past year and reflect on Carolyn's "servant's heart". She is patient and loving to the little ones, helpful to the older ones during school, and Momma's right hand in the kitchen. We all love her very much!! And yes, the braces came off just in time for her birthday.

While Carolyn and I ran some errands, Grace was sweet to take Carolyn's place at home, including feeding and changing Autumn Faith's diaper. Grace has a way of making the ordinary daily routines of home very pleasurable. When I received this picture on my phone today, it looked as though Autumn Faith was having a splendid picnic. Duke seemed to enjoy the baby too...

Some days run more smoothly than others. Most of the time there is some sort of chaos, but when I observe my baby gazing into her brother's eyes, I stop what I am doing, and just watch....

And I realize that someday I won't have the opportunities to observe my little ones sleeping, and breathing so peacefully during an afternoon nap. I must remember not to get caught up in the "tyranny of the urgent" and enjoy every step of this journey through life...

During a morning recess break, the Green children visited the persimmon tree in the cow pasture.

When Joseph decided he couldn't jump quite high enough to reach the persimmons,

he found that climbing the tree was a better way to pick some fruit.

All this effort was to provide a sweet little girl with a treat to feed the donkeys.

Today was a day for running errands for Momma, Joseph, Benjamin, Grace, and Autumn Faith. Carolyn had the little Greens at home. They gathered together and sent this cute text picture to my phone. Such a breath of fresh air when you are shopping, tired, and ready to come home...

And this was one reason for our trip into town. Grace now has partial braces!

Monday, September 3, 2012 - LABOR DAY

Kenny, Daniel, and Caitlin spent the day laboring on the roof of the "little house" and made much progress before the rain began.

Meanwhile, the other Green children were occupying themselves with river rafting (from Davy Crockett time period). Rosie decided her job would be the cheerleader :)

It's almost as though Smokey knew he and Phoebe were scheduled for their yearly vet checkup this morning. Nothing could lure him down, so...

the Green children decided to take action with a ladder, some rope, and a bucket.

With much success, Smokey cooperated and was content being lowered in the bucket.

Mission accomplished...
