Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

We have 19 hens in the chicken coop, and the McDuffie Feed and Seed finally received our Buff Orphington Rooster. We picked him up yesterday and he has been a delight to the children. He is so friendly, loves to play with everyone, curls up in laps, and follows you around the yard constantly. We are having fun raising him alone until he is old enough to live in the regular coop.

This little rooster has been for rides in tractors, trucks, and cars around the Green house.

He follows everyone around staying close to the feet.

Outside enjoying the friendly rooster.

We've lost 5 laying hens, this year's goslings, and all our duck eggs. The kids have seen a fox lurking around the farm while out on golf cart rides. We've also spotted the fox at dusk every evening running by the chicken coop down to the goat pen by the pond near the duck nest. Today when we came home from piano lessons, we spotted the fox by the kids' swings. We watched her run down to the chicken coop while Daniel ran inside to get his gun. And of course, Daniel had to do what needed to be done........

Almighty God, in giving us dominion over things on earth,

you made us fellow workers in your creation.

Give us wisdom and reverence

so to use the resources of nature,

that no one may suffer

from our abuse of them,

and that generations yet to come may continue to praise you for your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

- Book of Common Prayer

Monday, May 25, 2009 - Memorial Day- Thank you to all our veterans and those serving in our military to preserve the freedom for which our founding fathers shed their blood.

Happy 3rd Birthday Nathaniel!

We spent the afternoon celebrating Nathaniel's birthday. We are so thankful for having another year with our bubbly, snugggly, fun loving little boy who keeps us all on our toes and laughing.

His brothers and sisters made Nathaniel a cake in the sandbox with a tractor centerpiece and PLENTY of candles to blow out!

Nathaniel insisted on slicing his cake for everyone to have a piece.

Time for the real thing!

Today we enjoyed a special visit with Dr. Park, Julieann's neurologist.

Julieann was delighted to see Dr. Park outside of his MCG office. All the Green children listened to Dr. Park's stories of North and South Korea and how God was working there.

Everyone enjoyed showing Dr. Park the goats we milk for our soap!

All the Green kids with Dr. Park.

Dr. Park fillled a bag with goat milk soap to take with him to Korea in June.

Julieann watched intently as Dr. Park pulled out of our driveway. We know he is a special part of her life.

Dr. Park brought the Green family DELICIOUS cookies from Atlanta Bread Company. Everyone enjoyed eating them on the front porch on such a beautiful day.

They were only some little raindrops

Who lived afar in the sky;

But they said, "Let's drop together

Down into that field so dry."

So they jumped down, laughing and splashing,

With a music fine and sweet,

And saved with their gracious moisture

The field of withering wheat.

Oh! my boys, come near while I tell you -

Let me speak as clear as I can;

'Tis little deeds, for wrong or right,

That will make or mar the man.

Let your thoughts, your words, and your actions

Be honest and kind and true,

And the crown of a noble manhood

Will surely belong to you.

All was quiet this afternoon during babies' naptimes. We had finished our afternoon school, and as I rounded the corner into the living room, I found this.....

And three Indians inside taking their own little" rest" around the campfire. Homeschooling allows our children the afternoons to engage in meaningful play, hopefully making memories they will always treasure.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009 - MCG EEG

A very encouraging doctor's visit! Dr. Park reviewed Julieann's EEG and reported there was no seizure activity! He was amazed at how well she is developing! We are constantly reminded that the Lord works miracles by watching and holding our sweet Julieann. Thank you for all your faithful prayers!

Julieann remembers her brain parts.

Finally, after being sleep deprived since 5:30 am, Julieann takes a nap during the EEG around 11:00 am.

Julieann loves holding the brain model while waiting to see Dr. Park.

All tuckered out and headed home.

Saturday, May 2, 2009 - Julieann's First Birthday

We arrived home this evening from the homeschool conference to celebrate Julieann's first birthday!

She enjoyed taking rides in her little car!

Julieann wasn't quite sure what to do with her birthday cake.

We are so thankful to have had Julieann a part of our family this past year. She is such a delightful and affectionate little girl. The Lord has been truly gracious to us in carrying our daughter through her epilepsy attacks. She is developing well, and will have another EEG on Tuesday, May 5, at MCG to check for seizure activity on her brain. Please remember her in your prayers at 10:00 AM Tuesday morning.
