Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Julieann has a cold that has pretty much drained all of her two-year old energy. She is so pitiful. Everyone has been taking turns sitting with her and reading. Some Green children are afraid of catching the cold and really do not want to sit right beside her. However, Thomas is loyal to his family. He will sit and read to her, talk to her, cover her, and do anything she needs. What a brother!

Saturdays are family work days. Kenny picked up a new trash can yesterday, and I was pleased to see my children dressed and outside early this morning to pick up trash in the yard. Or so I thought.....

When I looked out of the window, this is what I saw.

Carolyn and Joseph were giving trash can "rides"!

And they were taking turns so beautifully!!!!!

Today the stage coach became a ship, complete with sail...

and sailor.

Precious to a mother's eyes is seeing her baby sweetly snuggling her brothers and sisters.

Precious to a mother's ears is her son taking the initiative to sweep and mop the bathroom and hearing, "Mom, I'm doing this for Daddy."

This evening we met Kenny after work to assemble the children's Bible Reading Notebooks and bind them.

Thomas enjoyed helping Daddy with the binding machine.

And the finished result!!! Julieann is indeed our social butterly. It's funny how the personality of each child comes through with the particular cover he/she chose.

Especially the personaltiy of this little guy!

Thomas was so excited about his key chain.

And how fitting for Grace to choose a horse in a field of wild flowers.

Benjamin has ALWAYS loved the ocean. When he was a year old we could not keep him from crawling into the waves over and over again.

Joseph, the shepherd boy.

Carolyn with her feminine, dainty flowers. And notice how you see less...

and less of the older children's faces. Kenny and I have to admit Daniel did not choose his cover page. He told us to suprise him, and so we did.....But he was rather pleased with the selection!

This was a very enjoyable family project, and I delighted in seeing everyone so excited about what they are going to record in their notebooks!

It seems every year in January our homeschool needs a little pick-me-up. So we spent the day rearranging the school room to lift every one's spirits. We moved a desk from the little house to the school room for a very productive corner.

And now everyone (except for Julieann and Anna Rose) have their very own desk! But if you notice Julieann seems to have claimed them all!

And we have all been working on designing new Bible reading notebooks. Kenny let everyone choose what they wanted for the cover of their books.

We have been printing book after book and everyone is looking forward to the finished bound copy.

"LAUGH, boys! a hearty, joyous, ringing laugh,

that sends the blood gayly coursing along the veins and arteries,

giving life and vigor to every nook and corner of the system.

purple mittens instead of blue...

mismatched socks that can be noticed...

stories that just seem too unbelievable...

tents that keep falling down...

loads that are extremely heavy (yes that's our wonderful neighbor Mr. Farmer)...

and thankfully the Lord provides the attitude to make the best of it all!

What caused a little girl distress today?

A finger stuck in the gate latch!

Look at the affliction on her face! But big sister knew how to fix it.

Miracle salve to the rescue!

Freedom and a happy little girl!

The Green boys play one of Mama's favorite hymns.

A Christian Home from Kenny Green on Vimeo.

And here are the words to "A Christian Home":

"O give us homes built firm upon the Savior,

Where Christ is Head, and Counsellor and Guide;

Where ev'ry child is taught His love and favor

And gives his heart to Christ, the crucified:

How sweet to know that tho' his footsteps waver

His faithful Lord is walking by his side!

O give us homes with godly fathers, mothers,

Who always place their hope and trust in HIm;

Whose tender patience turmoil never bothers,

Whose calm and courage trouble cannot dim;

A home where each finds joy in serving others,

And love still shines, tho' days be dark and grim.

O give us homes where Christ is Lord and Master,

The Bible read, the precious hymns still sung;

Where prayer comes first in peace or disaster,

And praise is natural speech to ev'ry tongue;

Where mountains move before a faith that's vaster,

And Christ sufficient is for old and young.

O Lord, our God, our homes are Thine forever!

We trust to Thee their problems, toil, and care;

Their bonds of love no enemy can sever

If Thou art always Lord and Master there:

Be Thou the center of our least endeavor;

Be Thou our Guest, our hearts and homes to share.

The winter snow is still on the ground,

but the promise of spring is visible.

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; If we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not

be so welcome." -- Anne Bradstreet

Everyone enjoyed relaxing and talking today when Kenny's family came for a visit.

And of course Kenny had to demonstrate how to shave with Shakerock Farm's Goat Milk Soap. Don't you just love that lather?

I pick up the telephone,

and call LOTS of people!

"May God help every one of us to live at home so tenderly,

so unselfishly,

so lovingly, that the memories we make within our own doors shall be our own holiest requiem, on the breath of which our spirits may be wafted away to glory in the Home in our Father's House!"

A little warmth by the fire after a bath,

a game of boxing, ( I really don't understand the underwear on the head)

and finally, the realization that a big punch can hurt a little brother!

Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY DANIEL!!!!!

Daniel awoke this morning to this special birthday breakfast! (The H wouldn't fit in the middle row.)

And from his first birthday...

to his 18th, Daniel has always been our mature "little man". Kenny and I are so very proud of how responsible, hardworking, and discerning Daniel has been throughout his 18 years. The Lord has blessed us with our firstborn, and we pray for MANY, MANY more birthdays to celebrate with him!

Daniel was very thoughtful this year and told Carolyn he didn't want her to spend all day in the kitchen baking and decorating his cake, so we actually BOUGHT a birthday carrot cake!!!! Carolyn was very appreciative and said how relaxing her day was as well.

Today the Green children enjoyed the snow and ice!

The day started with siblings pushing each other on a rubbermaid lid.

Then things progressed using a rope to pull everyone around.

Julieann loved it!

And finally the Green children decided to hook up TWO rubber maid lids to the golf cart for fun.

They even talked Daniel into taking rides.

And while I was outside, I glanced back and saw Anna Rose watching all the action through the window as if saying, "Someday....."

Today part of the Green family spent time at the "Shakerock" cutting and...

gathering firewood with...

Mr. Farmer.

Carolyn enjoyed transporting firewood with Mr. Farmer's 4-wheeler.

And Anna Rose and I stayed warm and cozy inside playing "tea party".

If we sit down at set of sun

And count the things that we have done,

And counting find

One self-denying act, one word

That eased the heart of him who heard,

One glance most kind,

That fell like sunshine where it went,

Then we may count that day well spent.

Sometimes while teaching school, I see from afar off, this angelic face.

And sometimes from REAL CLOSE I see this mischievous face.

Today was a wet, rainy day...

but everything was cheery...

and very bright on the inside when I saw this sign posted in the play area:

Oh, how I got a chuckle!

Grace spent time styling hair, and then came...

the lipstick!

Julieann decided on the manicure...

and I believe Carolyn liked the "new look" at Grace's salon!!!

Thomas wanted Nathaniel to join him for his appointment at MCG today.

Thomas did very well during his pulmonary testing. We have much to be thankful for with all of Thomas' test results. He does not have cystic fibrosis, and the one gene mutation the doctor's found during the genetic screening was probably the cause for his high sweat chloride levels. His sleep apneas have also improved over the last year.

During all of the waiting, both the boys enjoyed playing on the doctor's stool.

After the checkup, the boys decided to head downstairs to McDonald's for a snack and hot fudge sundaes, when who should round the corner?

Dr. Park, Julieann's neurologist. We enjoyed visiting with Dr. Park and told him how much Julieann still talks about how he helped her when she was a baby.

And enjoying.

A new year with hopes of doing things a little better, saying things a little nicer, and yet the very first day there is failure. We are not perfect by our selves alone. We need help. And even though I know there is much room for improvement, my children were playing with letters and made me this note today.

How can they be so forgiving, so blind to my failures, and so full of love? But then again, isn't that what we teach them about Jesus? Oh, I love my husband and children very much. I know whatever this year may bring, the Lord has placed each one of us in this family to forgive and love one another daily.
