Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Since I wasn't feeling well today, the little girls decided to pamper me with a pedicure.

Anna Rose knows the best product for soft feet is Shakerock Farm's lotion stick!

Monday, May 30, 2011 - Memorial Day

Some of us in the Green household are a little under the weather. We hope next year (if everyone's feeling well) to venture out and visit some cemeteries in honor of those who have fought for our country.

Nathaniel's feeling better and wanted to play a little "teeball" today. Notice the country boy's version of a ball tee: an old farrier stand with a calf milking bottle on top. It worked just fine.....

And Thomas was feeling athletic as well.

A little boy must have his yoyo with him during an afternoon nap.

And so must the big boys who are not feeling well.....

Hopefully everyone will feel better soon.

We have been busy rearranging our laundry room today. When you have stackable units and you have to move the old washing machine out and replace with a top loading machine, the domino effect begins. So we have been deep cleaning and organizing, which means Moma did not have a moment to snap pictures. But my wonderful husband found this old fashioned picture and "decorated" our "new" laundry room.....

The little Green girls are full of kisses for everyone.....

and birds included.

Not just an ordinary day for cupcakes, but a reason to celebrate!

The result from our sonogram showed that the new baby is........................................................................

a GIRL !!!!

We are thankful the Lord allowed us to view a healthy baby girl. We are praying the rest of the pregnancy will be a safe and healthy one as well.

Benjamin's new project: carving yoyos.

He uses needle files to smooth out the centers for smooth yoyo action.

And as the sun was going down this evening we all enjoyed a little fishing. Julieann has always supported Nathaniel in everything.

I think he caught "the big one".

Tuesday, May 24, 2011- HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY NATHANIEL !

Nathaniel has been reminiscing about our fun at Jekyll Island, so he asked Carolyn to make a "beach" cake. Once again, she helped to bring a smile to the birthday child.

Nathaniel has deep reflective thoughts (some very humorous) and he brings lots of joy to our family.

We had a pleasant visit with Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Yvonne, and Uncle Buddy today. Uncle Buddy is my dad's older brother and we heard many stories of their childhood days (and also present day stories of who can eat more ice cream).

"Educating a child is a natural process. Home schooling is nothing more than an extension of parenting." -Sue Maakestad

From the beginning: learning ABC's and how to read,

to classifying rocks with your little sister,

you have always exhibited great organizational skills,

and spent more time under a horse than on top.

Your love for history has never faded,

and the Lord has taught you patience through your position as a firstborn and time spent with your siblings 24 hours a day.

He has providentially supplied you with the opportunity to pursue your interests. Congratulations on your recent graduation accomplishments! We are thankful for the last 18 years of parenting and teaching you upon our waking hours: "when we sat in the house, walked by the way, when we have retired for the evening, and risen to meet the new day." We have made wonderful memories.....even when the days were hard and less than perfect. But our motto in the Green home has always been, " Nothing in life worth doing is easy."

"Home schooling.....the real treasure is at the end of the road when you have a child who is spiritually mature, academically solid, poised, and able to win the favor of God and man." ---Mike Farris

We spent the day at Stone Mountain for Daddy's company picnic.

Anna Rose enjoyed visiting with all of Daddy's co-workers.

Friday, May 20, 2011

It's sad to leave the beach.....but everyone is happy to be home this evening! Thank you Mr. Chalker and Farmers for taking such good care of everything while we were away!

Thursday, May 19, 2011 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!

We began the day celebrating Daddy's birthday with a delightful breakfast at the Jekyll Club.

Afterwards, we had PLENTY of time to relax while Daddy drank his GRANDE cup of coffee.

I caught Julieann looking at me and had to snap a picture of my beautiful daughter.

After lunch, part of the Green family went swimming.....

while Mama stayed at the villa with napping little girls and tackled loads of laundry.

Daniel went fishing with his net again and caught JAWS JR.

Notice the bandaid on his left index finger :)

And for YEARS Kenny has wanted to visit Willie's Wee-nee Wagon.

This year for his birthday, his wish came true.

Even the locals (in the background) were chuckling at how much Kenny enjoyed his dinner.....

This morning we biked around the historic district taking breaks under the shade of the huge live oaks...

and walking through some of the English gardens.

And EVERY year we stop for an ice cream treat.

Anna Rose seemed to be very thankful for our ice cream tradition.

After lunch some of the Green children enjoyed playing volleyball...

while the oldest Green child wanted to try catching fish with a net.

He was successful most of the time.

And after a full day, this is what was left from 4 EXTRA LARGE pizzas (notice Nathaniel contemplating if he should have just one more.....

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

After Kenny's conference, we took our traditional bike ride on Jekyll Island. This was my view from behind.

And tonight the Green children had fun with glow sticks on the lawn of our villa.

Monday, May 16, 2011

We spent the morning on the beach digging,

and relaxing.

And we spent the evening at the Low Country Boil eating and learning about the Vac Truck.

We're thankful a passerby took our family picture.

I'm not really sure what we were so tickled about (somehow the younger Greens didn't think it was quite so funny).

Saturday, May 14, 2011

Stopping for lunch on the way...

to the beach!

And after a LONG walk on the beach, everyone was ready to wind down for the evening.

Friday, May 13, 2011

Packed and ready for our trip to Jekyll Island.

And this little girl has been trying on her "beach wear".

Thursday, May 12, 2011

playing hide and seek,

sipping a gatorade in the shade on a hot day,

and holding a sister hostage with a cannon.

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Carolyn, Grace, and Amanda and Sydney Steeves finished their class on spinning today. We learned that Grace has a "lead" foot, so we won't be teaching her to drive anytime soon.

Carolyn enjoyed learning on various spinning wheels.

And this is a sample of their first spinning experience. A job well done!

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

I was in town running errands today, so I did not have a chance to "capture" any moments on camera. My lovely children decided to take matters into their own hands.

They caught Kenny and me enjoying an after dinner decaf relaxing in our favorite spot on the front porch.

Monday, May 9, 2011

Anna Rose came to me today in great distress over her blue leg.

And this little girl was caught "blue" handed.

And my Mother's Day ended yesterday with a cup of decaf and a freshly picked rose. My day was filled with crayon decorated cards, flowers and plants from my husband and children, and the reality that the best gift is being a mother...taking the good days with the not so good ones on the other 364 days of the year.....

A coke and a smile!

Joseph was trying to "lasso" Daniel from the tree but wasn't quite quick enough for his older brother.

And everyone took turns with Daddy in the paddle boat. The rudder is broken so Joseph volunteered to steer.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God..." Romans 8:28

Sometimes in life, things do not go as planned...and we lament.

But the Lord always works things together for good.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Carolyn, Grace, and Amanda and Sydney Steeves spent the morning skirting, washing, and drying our sheep's wool at Twisted Fence Ranch.

Grace had to put a little muscle power to the picking machine.

Everyone watched the combing process carefully.

Carding the wool was Grace's favorite job.

The result: beautiful Shetland Sheep wool ready for spinning next week!!!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

We spent time picking out all of the undesirable dirty wool in preparation for Carolyn and Grace's spinning class tomorrow.

We are learning how to prep our wool for carding and spinning. We must handle the wool gently during washing so as not to cause felting.

And this is how I found Julieann asleep in the boys room today.....

Monday, May 2, 2011 - Happy 3rd Birthday Julieann!!!

Today we celebrated our sweet Julieann's 3rd birthday!

Carolyn made Julieann's birthday cake with her favorite colors - brown and pink. Every rose and leaf was sculpted by hand with icing! We all enjoyed a chocolate cake with mocha cream filling!

And today Julieann reflected on our weekend in Savannah finding time to enjoy the beach!

Anna Rose ran around with such a big smile on her face!
