Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3

This morning after breakfast, Thomas quickly dressed himself, brushed his teeth, combed his hair, and before he stepped one foot outside to play, he said he needed to read his Bible first. May we all follow his example in the New Year ahead...

Carolyn and Grace have been busy knitting hats for the upcoming cold weather.

And what are the Green children plotting in the barn loft? .

Using a rope and a horse bit?

A zipline!!!

My children are always inventing...

The girls were having their own fun on the trampoline.

My sweet Anna Rose.

This morning, while the rest of the Green children were getting ready for the day, I just sat...

and watched...

my baby girl...

It doesn't matter what toys the children receive for Christmas. Their favorite toy is a box of old fashioned blocks...

And Duke was caught at the other end of the camera today.

What do you think? Maybe a bluebird for tomorrow's rescue?

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

This morning a pine warbler or yellow throated vireo (we're having trouble identifying) flew into our window, and Benjamin nurtured him until he could fly away. Kenny and I never rescued wild birds as children, and yet the Green kids seem to rescue them monthly.

Joseph and Benjamin spent the afternoon working with their leather tools.

Their first project was leather coasters. We'll see what projects tomorrow brings...

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. Today we spent time cleaning and picking up many boxes and wrapping paper. While the boys ran some errands, the girls enjoyed playing music.

Yes, Julieann requested a PINK violin for Christmas.

And all of the Green children were excited about trying out their new trampoline from Christmas. Joseph got tickled when he read some of the rules: Do not jump when tired. Do not jump over netting. Do not jump while smoking, etc...

Everyone jumped and jumped and...

even Daddy and Mommy took a turn.

This is Daddy after his turn.

And this is Mommy after her turn. Daddy and Mommy aren't quite so young anymore...

A new hammock swing for the magnolia tree was very enjoyable,

but even more so when shared with a sister.

This is what I see now while trying to take a picture. Duke (the dog Daniel aquired shoeing horses) is right underneath me trying to chew on my camera cord.

And my sweet children had a very active day jumping on the trampoline . Much rest tonight will bring energetic children ready to begin the day anew tomorrow...

Christmas celebration with the Green, Fanning, and Broom families. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening!

Some of the men gathered in the kitchen for "men talk"...

Cousin Owen stood in the background thinking, "Someday I'll be old enough to join in...

And of course everyone had to participate in the traditional arm wrestling festivities.

Caitlin and Carolyn are VERY strong young women!

Today everyone worked on Christmas color and puzzle sheets during school time. Yes, we have rearranged our school room once again. Kenny and I moved our bedroom upstairs and are using our old room for a family/school room.

And we always enjoy Mr. Jake when he comes to our house for electrical work. With an old house, there are always adventures with wiring.

Perhaps Joseph has a future as an electrician?

And while all the excitement was happening at home, Daddy and Daniel had a relaxing afternoon sitting in a field dove hunting.

On rainy days, the Green children can be found reading in some corner of the house.

And Anna Rose loves to change her baby doll diapers just like a little Mommy.

On the way...

to nurture...

the "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree!

Everyone's feeling much better at the Green house. Benjamin improved his airplane today to include a passenger seat, and Thomas enjoyed playing the role of pilot while...

Grace seemed to be playing the role of shepherd girl.

And Julieann's role was that of a vet. I think she was inspecting Maggie's teeth.

This evening Nathaniel was in deep thought. Carolyn left her hair barrette on the school room table, and Nathaniel began opening and closing it over and over again.

He said , "Mom, this works just like a catapult." The minds of boys and girls are soooo different, and I enjoy hearing the comments and thoughts from all of my children.

Can you believe this sweet little girl has been so sick? Today was beautiful, and Anna Rose felt like venturing out on the porch swing for some fresh air...

No pictures for today. We have patients that need our attention from the stomach virus.

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

Some of the boys are feeling better, and while we were trying to snap pictures for our Christmas cards, the cats

and dogs were showering everyone with love and kisses.

Admist the cold virus and stomach bug causing sickness in the Green household, Miss Anna Rose turned two years old on Sunday, December 11th.

Carolyn made little rosette cupcakes, but the poor birthday girl could not even enjoy them. You can see the paleness in her otherwise perky, smiling face.

But tonight, Rosie was determined to enjoy her cupcakes. We are so thankful for our delightful rose blossom. She has given us two years of sheer joy! We pray the Lord will continue to bless her.....

Sometimes, the energy level

of my boys

is distinctly different

than that

of my girls.

Thursday, December 8, 2011

Rosie was so proud of herself this morning when she found and put on her pink "sock".

Yes, this is what happens in the Green household when socks can't be found. Mittens are used instead...

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Just in case the dark hair doesn't turn blonde like the rest of the Green children, Autumn Faith is prepared!

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Today Julieann sat on the flatrock in the horse pasture watching...

her brothers on the Shakerock Farm ferris wheel.

Monday, December 5, 2011

We had a busy weekend with Thomson's craft show and Kenny's Christmas party. Today we all tried to catch up on our rest.

Joseph and Benjamin demonstrated and sold their rubber band guns in our soap booth on Saturday.

And Autumn Faith was an angel resting in her stroller during all the activities.

Friday, December 2, 2011

Come see us tomorrow morning in Thomson at the Festival off Main! The Shakerock Farm tent will be in front of the McDuffie Mirror building by the Depot and will be stocked full of soaps and lotions, including our wonderful limited-edition Christmas soaps. Perfect stocking stuffers! We expect to sell out of our Christmas scents, so come by early - the Festival begins at 9.
