Sweet and Lovable, a Delight to Everyone
Julieann, the eighth of the Green children, was born May 2, 2008. A delightful baby from the beginning, Julieann quickly stole the hearts of Mom, Dad, brothers and sisters. In late October 2008, our precious girl was diagnosed with infantile spasms, a rare form of epilepsy. As her illness unfolded, we began documenting her progress on this page so that friends and family would know specifically how to pray for her. We are so thankful to the Lord that her outcome so far is very good. For now, Julieann is seizure-free. We know that the seizures could return tomorrow, or in 10 years - so please continue to pray for her.

Joseph and Grace playing pioneers on the stagecoach Kenny built for them.

Handsome Benjamin taking care of the ladies.

Daniel and Nathaniel having "brotherly" fun.

Pretty Carolyn at the Jekyll Club.

And our adventurous Thomas on the beach.

Time really does go by too quickly. I am cherishing my family daily...

Running a race

is very hard work

but it sure is a lot of fun!

"A temper under control, a heart subdued into tenderness and patience, a voice cheerful with hope, and a countenance bright with kindness, are invaluable possessions to any man or woman."

Monday, May 28, 2012 - Memorial Day

Memorial Day...a day for

celebration and

remembrance of all the soldiers who fought for our freedom. Today the Green family picked flowers in our yard

and along with Caitlin we trekked through the woods to an old abandoned cemetery to honor our Confederate dead.

The girls placed flowers on the graves of Confederate soldiers.

Rosie took her turn as well.

Grace reflected on all those who died for the freedoms we enjoy today. We learned that the first Memorial Day was celebrated in 1866 when a group of ladies placed flowers on the graves of the Confederate and Union soldiers. It wasn't until after World War I that the holiday included soldiers in all American wars.

Thank you to all the men who have given so much to our country... We pray that the men of our nation today will never take these freedoms for granted.

Back home,

and harvesting

the garden.

This morning (while packing) Nathaniel couldn't bear to leave the rest of his ice cream cake at Jekyll Island. The Green family decided that ice cream cake for breakfast was a great idea. Did you know you can do that on vacation?

We are home now resting from a wonderful trip. Thank you to Daniel for caring for the animals and Mr. Chalker for milking our goats!

Thursday, May 24, 2012 - Happy 6th Birthday, Nathaniel!!

Today we celebrated Nathaniel's 6th birthday by...

riding bikes around Jekyll Island. My youngest Green boy is growing up fast! His humor and brightness bring a smile to our days.

And after so much strenuous exercise, ice cream really hit the spot.

These two could get into great mischief with one of these cars.

Julieann was ready to visit the beach after our morning excursion.

And I believe Rosie filled 100 buckets with seawater this afternoon.

Definitely fun in the sun!

Wednesday, May 23, 2012

The Jekyll Club breakfast was a great way to begin the morning.

And then it was time to hit the beach and fly kites.

"Thank you Grammy for the sunglasses."

Surfin Benjamin.

Thank you Thomas for helping Mommy with the umbrella.

And glow sticks at night have become a tradition on our Jekyll visits.

Today the Green children enjoyed walking around the Exhibit Hall with Daddy (and collecting a few pens and eating a few cookies).

Anna Rose loves Autumn Faith (or as she calls her --"pookie pie").

After the conference, it was "beach time".

The Greens are content with swimming in shallow water (due to the fact that a fisherman near us caught a 2 foot shark).

Grace was so thankful to have the OK from her doctor to swim and have fun at the beach.

This little girl was absolutely fearless in the water.

And this is the result of a very full day...

Monday, May 21, 2012

This weekend the Green children enjoyed hunting crabs on Driftwood Beach

and climbing all over the old trees.

Miss Autumn Faith took a little nap in her Ergo wrap.

And in a large family finding others to play with is not hard.

Every year at Jekyll, we're always on the lookout for alligators.

And after the Low Country Boil dinner, everyone decided to take a walk on the beach.

The Green family minus Daniel.

My sweet baby girl,

and my sweet Julieann.

Saturday, May 19, 2012 - Happy 45th Birthday Kenny!

We're at the beach! Daniel (because of his work schedule) and Mr. Chalker are taking care of the farm. We miss you Daniel very much.

And because Willy's Weenie Wagon was closed, the next best birthday dinner is Skinny Pete's Wings. And even the smallest Green members enjoy the wings hot and spicy!

This morning at MCG, we learned that Nathaniel has a benign cartilaginous tumor on his left big toe. Unfortunately, these tumors usually continue to grow, so the doctor wants to remove it soon. Hopefully Dr. Cearley will be successful removing all of the tumor so we can avoid amputation.

And we were pleased to see Dr. Park (Julieann's neurologist) after we finished breakfast at McDonald's. He shared with us his missions' work in North Korea helping children. We discovered that he must register his Bible as he enters and leaves because North Korea does not allow ANY literature to be brought into the country. Because of the country's strict one-child policy and poor medical care, many sick children are allowed to die. We are so thankful to live in a country where Dr. Park has helped many infantile spasm patients, including our sweet Julieann.

"Oh no. Here we go again."

This time Duke wants the calf bottle.

But Benjamin saves the day!

"Friendships in our own home,

must be formed by the patient knitting of soul to soul

and the growing of life into life"...

Not only does he steal Rosie's toys, but tonight Duke stole a bite of her cookie too. Rosie was not pleased...

Thomas has mastered the art of two wheelin' on a trike. He was the entertainment for the evening.

It's not just one day out of the year that is Mother's Day...

It's the 364 other days of togetherness,

brotherly love,

and laughter that makes EVERY day Mother's Day...

Friday, May 11, 2012

Autumn Faith was moral support for Nathaniel at MCG this morning. We will visit with Orthopedics next week with lab results.

After resting for quite awhile, Nathaniel wanted to venture outside. Benjamin was kind enough to make him a crutch.

"Bumpo" with a bumped toe!

Thursday, May 10, 2012

Grace's follow-up appointment at MCG went very well today. Her incision looks great, and the urologists will be monitoring her by ultrasound in 6 months.

Of course Autumn Faith is Grace's MCG buddy.

She was such a silly girl in her stroller! And we will be back at MCG in the morning for a biopsy on Nathaniel's toe. Please pray all will go well with his surgery.

What's a girl to do when her favorite toy is stolen? Try with all her might to get it back...

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

Our German, Scottish, and Irish roots appeared at Shakerock Farm. We must never forget from whence we came...

Monday, May 7, 2012

Thomas and Nathaniel invented this cycling vehicle today. I was just about to call them in from "recess" when I discovered what they were doing. An old stroller, some tools, a trike, and two little boys' vivid imaginations are sometimes the best schooling...The video below shows how much fun they were experiencing.

Saturday, May 5, 2012

The Green crew (along with Caitlin's help) wrapped lots and lots of goat milk soap today. The soap shelves are filling up with new scents for the spring/summer season!

Friday, May 4, 2012

We discovered Smokey and Phoebe playing with a field mouse today.

And yesterday the cats wounded a baby rabbit which the Green children are hoping to nurse back to health.

Even the smallest of the Green children know the maintenance routine on the farm!

Thursday, May 3, 2012

The old tractor is finally retired and off to the scrap yard.

Can't you tell it will be greatly missed?

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY JULIEANN!

Today we enjoyed watching our sweet "little lady" enjoy her fourth birthday. Julieann is a very special girl, and we have been blessed for the last four years with her in our lives. Her energy, enthusiasm, and bubbly personality brighten everyone's day. Mommy and Daddy love you very much!

It's good to be home in the country again...
